Geometric and Volume Analysis

GTWorks provides a full range of analytical tools to evaluate geometric shapes and areas. The results are easy to generate; they can be formatted and filed for later use in engineering drawings and other product presentations.

CURVE AND 2-D SECTION ANALYSIS

Features: GTWorks will provide the length and slope of any designated line, arc, conic or spline, as well as plot spline properties for complete curvature and slope analysis. Section analysis can be applied to any area completely enclosed within a curve or series of curves. The area can be evaluated in its entirety, or designated islands or voids within the area can be excluded. Once a bounded area has been defined and voids identified, GTWorks provides information on perimeter, center of gravity, first and second moments of inertia, radius of gyration and polar moment of inertia.

Benefits: Automated curve and section analysis makes it easy to check basic model design.

VOLUME ANALYSIS

Features: You can obtain the mass properties and surface area of enclosed volumes by selecting a fully surfaced model, or by generating a swept or projected volume from a 2-D section. In either case, the system will provide information on surface area, volume, mass, weight, center of gravity, moments of inertia, products of inertia and first, second, and third principal moments of inertia. The directions of the principal moments of inertia can also be provided.

Benefits: Automated volume analysis facilitates checking design alternatives.

ANALYSIS CALCULATOR

Features: The menu option allows you to combine the results of section and volume analyses. You can add the properties of separate analyses and recompute properties with different origins or axes.

Benefits: Composite analyses can be performed on complex assemblies, and alternative designs can be tested quickly and easily.
